Start with a defined next step

Request an enterprise systems assessment

Create a bounded view of systems, dependencies, risks, dispositions and the most valuable first modernization slice.

Page purpose

Know what you provide and what you receive when you request an enterprise systems assessment.

Request an enterprise systems assessment when the decision spans a portfolio, business capability, or cross-system operating problem and needs a comparable view of purpose, lifecycle, condition, dependencies, ownership, risk, and change demand. Choose a cloud readiness assessment for workload placement, a data migration assessment for a defined source-to-target move, an ERP workshop for stakeholder framing, or Talk to an architect when the route itself is still unclear.

Initial inputs: the business decision, a high-level system list or approximate estate boundary, objectives, known pain points, stakeholder roles, timing constraints, and non-sensitive existing summaries. Immediate output: a fit response, clarifying questions, and a proposed assessment boundary with its required inputs; this is not yet an estate finding or roadmap. If the assessment is commissioned, its outputs can include evidence-based findings, system dispositions, priorities, dependencies, and a transition roadmap. Keep credentials, personal data, production exports, secrets, restricted contracts, and detailed security material out of the public form.

When to use this step

When is this the appropriate next step?

  • Modernization priorities are debated without a shared view of systems and dependencies.
  • Portfolio data mixes verified facts, assumptions, and outdated ownership information.
  • A roadmap is requested before decision criteria and assessment boundaries are agreed.

What you receive

What you receive after fit is reviewed.

  • After the public request: a fit response, clarifying questions, and proposed portfolio or cross-system boundary.
  • Before assessment starts: an agreed input checklist, evidence plan, exclusions, and approved route for sensitive working material.
  • Only after commissioning: current-state findings and comparable system disposition records.
  • Only after commissioning: priority waves, dependencies, risks, and a decision roadmap.
  • Explicit exclusions and unresolved evidence needs.

What happens next

What happens after the request is submitted.

  1. Define the business decision and portfolio boundary.
  2. Confirm stakeholders, available evidence, constraints, and information handling.
  3. Assess purpose, value, condition, dependency, data, support, and risk.
  4. Compare dispositions and sequence practical transition waves.
  5. Review findings, assumptions, and recommendations with accountable owners.

What to prepare

Information that makes the conversation useful.

  • Whether the scope is a whole portfolio, a business capability, or a defined system cluster.
  • Which evidence and stakeholders are available to validate findings.
  • Which criteria will determine priority and system disposition.

Information safety

Information that should not be sent through a public form.

  • Sharing confidential or regulated material before an approved channel and scope exist.
  • Treating incomplete inventory data as verified estate truth.
  • Producing a technology roadmap disconnected from funding, ownership, and business change.

Decision questions

Know the boundaries of the next step.

What should I include in the initial request?

Provide the business question, approximate number and types of systems, known constraints, stakeholder groups, desired timing, and non-sensitive context. A detailed input list and secure exchange route can follow after fit is confirmed.

How does this differ from the specialist routes?

This route compares a portfolio or cross-system boundary. Cloud readiness focuses on workload placement and migration viability; data migration focuses on source-to-target meaning, quality, validation, and cutover; the ERP workshop aligns a defined ERP decision before deeper assessment; and Talk to an architect helps select a route when the question is not yet bounded.
